Alex Pole
I have had a lifelong passion for metal work. I trained originally as a jewellery maker, but have been working
now as a blacksmith for 25 years.
Using both traditional and modern techniques, and local
or recycled materials wherever possible, I make bespoke pieces for private clients or designers, as well as developing my own range, Forge Kitchenware.
I also run regular blacksmithing courses.
Alex forges all the blades from British high carbon steel. He then profiles the steel, and tempers it, ready to pass on.
Ed Hunt
Like most country people, I always carry a knife in my pocket.
I started making my own knives about seven years ago when a much-loved knife I’d had for many years broke, and I attempted to create something to replace it.
Making knives became a passion as I experimented with different designs and different materials… and I am now a full-time knife maker, working from my home in Somerset.
Ed then heat treats and grinds the blades, and makes the handles individually for each knife.
